He completed the Master of Economics course at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Policy Studies, Kansai Gakuin University. He has a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Washington. His specialities are resource economics, environmental economics, and applied econometrics. He applied economic theory and empirical methods to the behaviour of fishermen such as the Sanriku fishery in Japan and the Alaska Suke and Udara fishery in the United States, the relationship between international trade and fishery resources, and the social of individual allocation management in the Norwegian fishery. He is studying economic analysis such as impact. Received the Best Student Thesis Award from the North American Fisheries Economics Society in 2017.
